Sheila Davis

Sheila Davis is a self-taught Canadian artist. She has been painting as a professional since 15 years now.

Her work mostly focuses on the landscapes which surround her. She harnesses energies that nature releases and captures a peripheral vision of our everyday life.

Her paintings are filled with vibrant and saturated colors. The artist transposes and interprets landscapes which she perceives according to her own subjective emotions. The physical resemblance isn't highlighted but the spirituality it lets out.

Under a bucolic atmosphere, Sheila Davis depicts a battlefield in her works through her fiery colors where the temperature seems to be rising constantly. A pictorial fire which is explained by the friction of textures and senses. The forces interact and elements express them. Water, Earth and sky relentlessly struggle, offering the spectator a beauty which goes beyond appearances and the ordinary.

This semibreve between materials is like a true ballet, a music for the eyes. Sheila Davis forces the eye to look further and surpass itself.

In order to better understand the natural scenes, Sheila Davis prefers to paint on large panels. She uses great quick strokes of painting energetically. Several layers are applied one after the other with wash splashes, that finish the painting.
