Weihao Wang

Weihao was born in Beijing in 1983.

His first impression on photography happened at the age of 6, with his grandfather, in the dark room; “we were silently waiting when suddenly, my grandpa pulled a photo out of a basin filled with liquid. It was like magic… This moment would forever remain engraved in my memory…”

Since then, Weihao becomes interested in photography. In 2006, he leaves Beijing to settle in Paris and starts his studies of assistant director, while practicing photography in parallel.

In 2016, when he visits his family in Beijing after 10 years of absence, Weihao is shocked by the important changes China has undergone in the meantime. Nevertheless, he found a piece of paradise in the Temple of Heaven and in Daguanyuan, at the heart of the city. It is in those places that he begins to work on his series of images “Decaying tree and withered Lotus“, a timeless way for him to retrieve the remaining fragments of zen and poetry of his city of birth, while adding to it a certain touch of nostalgia…
