Biography
A Colombian illustrator, Edgar Estupiñán was born in Bogota in 1977 and still works there. He did prestigious art studies at the Tadeo Lozano Fine arts school, in the Colombian capital. The artist provides portraiture with letters of nobility. Side by side, he was the cultural commentator on the television for an art program called « Conventillo de Paso ». Fascinated by the people who created history of music. Between 2002 and 2004, he created a deep meaningful portrait of the artist Epifanio Garay for the National museum of Columbia, well known in the Colombian Art history. In 2007, he studied works from the 19th and early 20th century, from the collection of the Modern art in Bogota. He portrays the people he admires: like his grandparents, he shows them with tenderness and benevolence. His second admiration leans towards major key figures of music history. His musical passion joins his artistic creation. Until today, he has participated in more than 40 exhibitions. He is mainly known for his portrait of the artist Epifanio Garay (famous in Colombian art history) for the national museum of Columbia. His writing is appreciated as well, as he has been invited several times as an art critic in various cultural magazines, due to his knowledge on contemporary art.
