Miljenko Bengez

MILJENKO BENGEZ was born in Zagreb (Croatia) in 1954.

In the eighties, he devotes himself to art painting.

From 1984 to 1989, he studied oil painting techniques in the studio of Professor Vilim Svecnjak.

He organized his first personal exhibition in 1987, in Ljubljana, Slovenia, at the Club of Cultural and Scientific Workers.

In 1990, Bengez moved to Florence, Italy, where he resumed and completed a painting restoration program at the Campo del Restauro “Lorenzo de Medici”, in the studio of Professor Paseri.

After his studies, he moved to New York where he accepted a long-term collaboration offer from “SE Feinman's Fine Art Gallery”. He stayed in New York until 2000. He exhibited successively on the occasion of group and individual exhibitions in the United States, Italy and Croatia.

Since 1997, he has been editing serigraphs in collaboration with the "L'Incisione" gallery in Milan, Italy; after many editions, "Incesione" even published a monograph called "BENGEZ".

Since 2001, the "Free Art Gallery" in Udine (Italy) has been organizing solo exhibitions of Miljenko Bengez throughout Italy, thus asserting his name on the Italian art scene.

Until today, Bengez has exhibited in more than eighty-one individual exhibitions. His paintings are an integral part of many private art collections in Europe, as well as in the United States and Japan.

Since 1994 he has been a member of the Croatian Association of Artists. A master painter of light, Bengez captures the heat of the sun and the beautiful colors of the sea.

Attention to detail and using color boldly, he fascinates and inspires the observer. Its themes are mainly inspired by the daily life of the Mediterranean coast as well as Parisian cafes or New York nightlife.

It is fascinating to observe how the unique structure of the chosen composition allows the artist to express in a particularly sensitive way the atmospheric changes with small touches of color, seasonal nuances, weather excursions, changes of lights and reflections over the course of a day, a month or by shifting the focus of attention to different details giving their works their titles.
