Troels Marstrand

Born in 1919 - Denmark


Born in 1919 in Copenhagen and died in Nice in 1992, Troels Marstrand came from a family of painters, especially his grand-father Wilhem Marstrand was among the great Danish painters of the 19th Century.

Known by the general public for his illustrator work in several journals, which he signed with his pseudonym « Jacques Mars », he simultaneously developed a personal piece highlighting surrealism and eroticism.

This work which was rarely shown in the olden days, but is much more common nowadays, often accompanied by an illustration selection of his second period, covering the 70's and 80's and embossed abstract compositions.
