Maurice Sage was born in 1946, he lives and works in Lyon. As he rubs shoulders with several artists, poets, writers and musicians, the painter absorbs a lot from the artistic world in Lyon. A fine expert in precious stones as he is a jeweler, he is able to depict mineral beauty in his painting, and experimented with these during his trips.
His brush strokes lead to refined, elegant and sober work. The eye contemplates the silent world of rocks and stones less than the realization of their affects "What if stone, through its several broken layers, not only referred to the mineral kingdom, but also designated a kind of interior landscape or to put it otherwise, a kind of Fossil form life? This is the question that Maurice Sage (painter-poet and paleontologist) would like us to examine...his work is like a personal life diary, visual depictions of his dreams with colors", wrote Frédéric-Charles Baitinger the art critic.
His works are part of several private collections and the city of Lyon as well.
