Biography

Born in 1986, ParisSketchCulture lives and works in Paris as a cartoonist and an Art Director. After his product design studies and some work experience in the textile industry, and then in advertising, he specialized in graphic design and Tattoos. In 2011 he created the website www.parissketchculture.com. In 2012, he received his first prize (the DAs Club). Working in the world of tattoo art and in fashion, he brings together these two disciplines, experimenting with various media.

He seeks to create a confrontation, and eventually a fusion, erasing the antagonism between street art and the universe of luxury, mixing techniques such as gluing, painting, leatherwork... ParisSketchCulture’s works in black ink are stagings of iconic characters plunged into a universe filled with symbols and other implicit messages. These unique works reflect the personality of the artist.

ParisSketchCulture is mainly interested in "underground" Lowbrow art (an artistic movement that emerged in California, during the ‘70s) in opposition with high art (or Highbrow art). He appropriates codes emerging from the popular media such as comic books, advertising, graffiti, cartoons, popular cinema and everything that is not considered as belonging to the world of traditinal 'fine arts'. His messages are often, at first, humorous, joyful and sarcastic, but at a second reading, they carry a subversive message in them.

His art is urban, combining illustration, graphic design, painting, comic books, and other forms of art useful to the building of his universe (sculpture, leatherwork, tattoo, carpentry etc.). He wants to make art that is accessible to the pop culture lovers who are not necessarily connoisseurs of the fine arts. He plays with “reassuring” codes, by including characters that are familiar to a whole generation, using them as vectors to deliver his messages. His art is “pop"ular.
