Charly Crank

Cécile Missir, alias Charly Crank, is one of those self-taught creators whose sensitivity has developed through contact with many contemporary influences, which she reinterprets by combining traditional and digital techniques in a composition that is both original and artistic. Coming from a family of fine arts and immersed very early in the stylistic inspirations of the 70s, she was inspired by the nonconformity of her milieu and was interested in Dadaism and the Bauhaus as well as the pioneers of graphic design of the time. , in particular Roman Cieslewicz, Grapus, Jean Widmer, Andy Warhol or the artist collective Bazooka. A follower of Buddhism and convinced of the synchronicity of things, she is inspired by the events of her life to guide her creations and her art. This was the case with his discovery of Jean Paul Goude at the bi-centenary of the revolution in 1989, with the extravagances of Grace Jones and Gainsbourg, with the monumental sculptures of Botéro in 1992 or more recently with the meeting of Chayan Khoï and his digital art design. Today, her style is at the crossroads of a past laden with multiple influences and countercurrent philosophies, of a life experience that both emancipated and tormented her, and a skin-deep sensitivity that masterfully materializes the multiple emotions.
