Presentation

Philippe Guesdon is an artist, born in Rouen in 1952. A specialist in visual arts, he has been painting and teaching since 1978. He lives and works in Asnieres.

He develops his work by using themes like natural or architectural patterns, recently by addressing re-appropriations devoted to history of art. Since 1995, his work is focused on contemporary revival of Albrecht Dürer's engraved work on wood. He also redid "Apocalysis cum figuris" by A. Durer but also "la Nef des fous" of the same artist, which appeared during the period of transition between Middle and Modern age, last but not least "Compost et Kalendrier" of shepherds printed by Guy Marchant at the end of 15th Century. He works on the book « Chevalier de la Tour Landry », « La Grande Danse Macabre Troyenne », and the symbolic book "Emblemata" by Joannes Sambucus.

His exhibitions take place in the Museum of Calais, Cholet, Clermont-Ferrand, Soissons, Orleans and Niort but also in abbeys at Saint-Riquier, Trizay, Flaran. External auditor of Saint-Pierre-de-Varengeville organized a retrospective of his work on Dürer : Temps tressés.
