Born in 1948 - France
Jacques Trovic comes front Anzin, France. He is an internationally acclaimed artist whose work has been exhibition and acquired by numerous museums throughout the world. Since he was a child, Trovic has been making tapestries, as his fragile health required him to stay close to his mother and his sister who were seamstresses.
"My style is that of naive art" he says, "I knew how to draw and make embroideries and I used to make tapestries". He studied mosaic technique at the Beaux-Arts School in Saint-Amand, and then switched to tapestry-making.
Working ceaselessly, he illustrates his tapestries with a sun that smiles above various scenes of life: the mine, the animals, the circus, fairgrounds and traditions, the French provinces and countries of the world, trades, music, games...
