Presentation

James is a Lebanese abstract artist. Today she lives and works in Paris.

The artist paints vibrant, cheerful and colorful landscapes. Such a glorious torch, her works are a pure manifestation of the freedom, the reverie, and especially the intensity with which the artist feels the Levantine light in which her childhood was bathed.

In France, James studied Arts and then worked for Historical Monuments restoring churches’ retable.

Her impasto compositions in bright and lyrical colors variations produced by the palette knife create movement, such as a vibrant staccato rhythm.
The slabs of colors are extremely pleasing in themselves, showing subtle modulation, variety and an intrinsic feel for balance.

James’ work is influenced by artists as Nicolas de Staël, Nicolas Poliakoff, Etel Adnan or even Mark Rothko, which has always been her favorite artist.

Her nomadic spirit, the different cultures of the countries she has lived in are a constant source of inspiration. From her very colorful abstract paintings, James invites us to enter her universe where color supports line which writes as much as it draws.

James started exhibiting at only 15 and her work is still being exhibited in solo exhibitions in France and abroad.
