Melody Seiwert

We desperately plunder the honey of the visible to accumulate it in the great golden hive of the invisible.” Rainer Maria Rilke An original and particularly successful approach is that of Mélody Seiwert in a work that brings together plants, photography and colors. Her photographic herbaria bring us into a world of the almost microscopic while highlighting an art, that of nature seen by an artist of extreme sensitivity. Nature and art go hand in hand, which is obviously useful to recall, but here Mélody Seiwert stages shapes and colors to make paintings of great subtlety. She plays with colors while respecting them, knows intuitively that nature thus (re) visited would not endure its violation by some random procedures. By appropriating the plant, she reveals secrets in materials, structures, colors and creates shapes, beings, almost, which seem alive while moving in front of us in a beautiful and surprising choreography. The color of these twigs and petals is magnified. However, we are not in the presence of painted works, like those of Redouté, but in full photography. Mélody is a talented photographer, we already knew it, and with this work we see that her eye is expert. Moreover, Mélody Seiwert introduces a modernism and a contemporaneity in this series which bring a new field in the photographic reading. Splendid achievements that these pseudo academic boards where multiple concepts intersect in a magnificent floral script.
