Presentation

Karen Joubert, known as Karen, is a French painter born in 1954. Her father was a curator and she spent her childhood on the biggest transatlantic liners. She studied applied arts at the Charpentier Academy. She has been living and working since more than 25 years on the French Riviera in Roquefort-les-Pins.

Karen's style has evolved over the years, nerver ceasing to be part of the figurative world. At the beginning, her painting described a luxuriant and exotic vegetation, devoid of any human and animal presence. In her vegetables in large formats, the profusion of details constitutes an eden, a haven of peace. Afterwards, the style of the artist evolved until detaching completely from her first works. She turned towards an art close to pop art and comics, more spontaneous and gestural.

Karen Joubert exhibited her work for the first time at the end of the 80s. Protected by merchant and collector Daniel Cordier, two of her pieces were part of a donation that he made to the Pompidou Museum in 1989. In 2014, Karen Joubert donated a dozen paintings to the city of Nice for the benefit of MAMAC .
