Anne-Marie Picard

Lives and has his workshop in southern Finistère.

At the end of her career as a social worker in a psychiatric hospital, she finally decided to devote herself full time to artistic creation. Always passionate about art and its history, she has long frequented European exhibitions and museums, thus gradually acquiring a sense of volumes and a balance of forms.

His artistic favorites: Soulages, Bacon and Vermeer on the painters side; Giacometti, Camille Claudel and Moore on the sculptors side.

Trying to paint at first, she quickly turned to sculpture, feeling the need to confront volume.

She mainly works on two subjects:

Terracotta

The series of "wise men" presented here is produced using a technique somewhat similar to Pollock's "dripping".

It is the throwing, on the naked sculpture, of thin clay veils which models the form, superimposing one skin on another giving a thickness, a relief, a different texture.

The speed, the force of projection of the cakes and the angle of attack have a direct impact on the positioning of the “earthen garment", of its drape, of its fold.

After firing, these lands are patinated, giving a gray rendering to his sculptures.

Cellular concrete

The finish of these works (multiple coats of greasy plaster) makes it possible to obtain a rendering close to that of a resin. The same creation can also be made using these two techniques. (cf. Big Baby).

Anne-Marie's attraction to Japan and her artistic and philosophical practices (dry gardens and cloud trees, Ikebana, Feng Shui, etc.) is felt in her works. A point common to all these creations: the search for an impression of interiority.

This is the first time that his work has been presented in a gallery.
