Michel Four

Michel Four, painter of the "nouvelle figuration" movement, was born in 1945 in Cantal, France. He studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts of Paris, and was trained in the Volga atelier in Paris. His work deals with themes such as women, bullfighting, Venice, a new idea of the landscape, orientalists. Michel Four's works have been exhibited since 1967 in numerous solo and group shows.

Michel Four is an unconventional artist, impossible to classify, who was never "trapped" in a series because, for him, the artistic vision must be fixed by the artist's brushstrokes in an area close to emotions. "Most of my paintings are not dated. They are part of an era. The subjects often mix and I like to come back to older themes."
