Biography After professional beginnings in the world of fashion between Paris and New York, Bertrand Fèvre studied cinema at the Free Conservatory of French Cinema in Paris, where he was originally from. He cut his teeth as an assistant director on feature films and commercials before embarking on directing. Son of a master of black and white silver prints, Georges Fèvre, he grew up in the world of "humanist photography" (Cartier-Bresson, Doisneau, Koudelka, Douglas Duncan, Burri, Ronis ...). While multiplying his achievements often related to music, he practices black and white film photography, and this since his adolescence and permanently, drawing his own images most often. His many travels, his filming and his meetings were so many rich opportunities to deepen his gaze and his sense of photography, without constraint, in complete freedom. Photography ... "More than a director who practices photography, I have the feeling of being a photographer who makes films ..." I like the photographer's freedom, his spontaneity, his lightness, his independence . I like the images that you can contemplate at your own pace, take in hand, the images that can circulate, diffuse ... The images captured on the path of my life have become my sensitive memory, winks on my personal luck, a loving homage to life, to what I love about it ... "I have always worked with 24x36mm film SLR cameras (Nikon, Leica), in black and white exclusively, favoring medium focal lengths and short (35mm, 21mm) and natural lights. An approach of "reportage" which does not prevent me from sometimes staging portraits or even female models. It is always grace, truth and emotion with a look that I seek to capture, and serve ... For a few years, I have been switching between silver prints and Fine Art inkjet prints and I have started to explore other, more rare printing techniques. little, I unearth the best of my sleeping negatives: more than 20,000 photographs, where landscapes, natu res mortes, reports, portraits of artists or anonymous, then some beautiful female encounters, whom I thank again for their complicity and their confidence, finally for everything that was offered to me.
