Gaëlle Villedary is a visual artist who lives and works in Marseilles, France. Gaëlle Villedary grew up in La Cadière d'Azur, France, in Douala, Cameroon and in Casablanca, Morocco.
After studying Applied Arts in Strasbourg, Green Object Studio www.gos.tv was born in 2001 from her collaboration with Hatim Elmrini, a director and visual designer. In charge of the art direction, Gaëlle Villedary brought to the duo a poetic note and her rigorous expertise.
In 2007, Gaëlle Villedary decided to come nearer La Cadière d'Azur, and moved to Marseilles where she trained as a precious metal artist in Juliette Arda‘s workshop as well as educational training in fine arts. She will teach design and visual arts.
At the same time she developed her artistic practice, rooted in her childhood and fed on her ten years in Africa. Her research focuses on the notions of borders and territorial transformations related to real and imaginary, or intimate fantasies.
Between drawings and installations, quality materials and salvaged ones, the hybrid work is always a product of the life form and its future prospects. How to deal with reality not as inevitable but as an open space for a possible rebound. How to remain on the edge of figuration and abstraction, but without deciding on one side or the other, and yet in a constant movement from one to the other.
