Presentation

Agnes Baillon is originally from around Montpellier. Politically conscious, she quickly rebelled against the military facilities and nuclear power of her region, to defend peace and freedom. Today, she lives and works in Paris, where she studied drawing and painting at École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in 1986.

The sculptures of the French artist, Agnes Baillon reveals unique items in resin, painted white and bronze in some areas, whose delicate accomplishment conveys a subtle play on the human physiognomy, accentuated with an almost dream-like tranquility.

She was committed in showing the human being through a realistic eye, as she wanted to find her own way of expression, without getting intimidated by the various other well-established artistic trends. According to her, only realistic art can describe the delicate nuances of her emotional state. Then, it is the role of the spectator to understand it.

The artist used brief emotional states as the key element of her intentions, moments where a child's naivety became her own inspiration. Agnes Baillon relies on this to capture and highlight the emotional state in a wonderful manner, while managing to intuitively pass on these emotions to the spectator almost each time, till conjuring up the mystery.
