France Born in: 1981
Kouka is the grandson of expresstionist painter Francis Gruber, the son of a French playwright and of a Congoloese artist. Kouka was born in Paris in 1981 and is graduated from the Ecole d’Art d’Avignon in 2005. This African French, extremely talented artist uses various means of expression and has been guided, from the beginning of his career, by his effort to appropriate public space, which he explores in order to better integrate his reflection and his fundamental messages.

Expressing his commitment to urban culture, Kouka also uses his slogans and texts in his rap lyrics. He combines performance and scenography and his work consists of veritable urban interventions that try not only gibe legitimacy to Street Art as a mature and thoughtful art form, but also as an act of sharing with a profane public, contributing to upending the sometimes elitist dimension of art.
