Presentation

Born in 1960, Yann Faisant began training as a founder very early on in parallel with his artistic practice. His research combines different media, photography, video, fire art in order to highlight the close link and the tensions between Man and Nature. 1989 Faisant collaborates with Jean-Claude Mazel, visual artist. They set up together a real creative dialogue where their respective works decline, through different media, the same artistic discourse and the same aesthetic research. They create their own foundry inside their workshop. 2000, Faisant and Mazel give life to the “Extraordinary Garden”, an original space of formal and conceptual freedom, the garden brings together sculptures in polychrome patinated bronze staged in an ensemble that is both idealistic and symbolic but also united in a positive aesthetic research . The international recognition of this project seals their artistic legitimacy, "the Extraordinary Garden" is exhibited in many galleries, especially in Europe and China, and many institutional and private collectors participate in the continuity of the work. 2008 move of the workshop to Tangier. 2009, Yann Sketching his great work or Opus Magnum and develops the idea of resistance by presenting the video “Silence Part I”, a visual and narrative prelude to the theme of survival, produced around Ginkgo Biloba. Beyond the fact that this thousand-year-old tree was the subject of his master's degree and the diploma he obtained in 1980, Yann Faisant realizes that the particular species and the properties of this tree appear in filigree throughout of his work. 2010, the S'ame-user exhibition (Galerie Art Diffusion - Paris), explores alchemical themes using animals or animae (spirit - soul), and sees the appearance of the apple, a mythical and narrative symbol of nature. This natural object imposes itself on Yann Faisant as evidence and artistic continuity with Ginkgo Biloba. 2011, Faisant implements the perfection of nature by using the Fibonacci sequence, a mathematical sequence that tends towards perfection. He creates and exhibits seven sculptures: seven bronze and 24-carat gold apples measuring 7.6 cm to 137 cm in diameter surmounted by a leaf of Ginkgo Biloba, in a suite with perfect continuity. For this composition, the artist relied on the theory of the golden ratio, also called divine proportion. 2013, Faisant decides to decline Opus Magnum and tackle the themes of alchemy, transformation and resistance through different Opus. He stages a philosophical and artistic quest through the constituent elements of his work, nature, man, the universe. 2016, during Cop 22, the I Mind You project or the journey of an inflatable structure (hot air balloon), Applen13 is unveiled. This inflatable structure built according to the Fibonacci sequence with a diameter of 19.2m is brought to the sites declared in danger to the World Heritage of Humanity in order to draw the public's attention to what is appropriate to preserve. The project of a digital artistic platform is launched by Faisant. 2017 end of Opus D, Horse with the Golden Apple. Preparation of the retrospective exhibition in Dubai, March, April, May.
