"Travel, cinema, science, ... Detective novels. Life, cities. People, games, games, stakes. Time which passes, which has passed and which will pass; time suspended and memory. When the memory begins to fade, the imagination kicks in. The mind is then ripe for creation. It is not the reality that counts but the idea that one has of it . My subjects are anecdotal but not my painting. I try to see the world differently in order to understand it better and nothing better to grasp it than the little story. With a sometimes ironic look that often translates into the quirky humor of my titles , my paintings are there to testify to these small moments of life, where my characters, in their actions and their environment join the great History by being out of time. Unlike the photographer who fixes the image and freezes time, the painter reinvents the moment. He frees himself from all temporality, from all reality. I am not here to show but to amaze. " After studying at the Beaux-Arts in Lyon, Christophe Baltimore traveled to all continents, trips during which he developed his love for the cultures of the world and drew his inspiration to create his works. Since 1992, he has exhibited his work in art galleries in Paris and London.
