A great grandson of an Italian sculptor and son of an architect, Christophe ROUIL was born in 1959 in Cherbourg. He began studying interior design at the Camondo School in Paris and then joined ESAG, the Ecole Supérieure d'Arts Graphiques in Paris.
From 1985 to 1991, he taught Fine Art in Cherbourg, drawing, painting and watercolor in the courses of Free Academies. He also works for the FOL (Federation of Lay Works) Manche and Alpes de Hautes-Provence.
ROUIL became an illustrator for Le Monde from 1983 to 1991, but also for Editions Hachette Jeunesse, Editions Casterman, Pocket Editions, Editions Nathan, Editions Syros and finally for Editions Isoète. He also collaborates with the cities of Cherbourg, Epinay-sur-Seine, Equeurdreville, Lannion and the department of Vaucluse on projects of illustrations of different sizes.
Passionate about painting from an early age, he exhibited his first collections in the galleries of Lisieux, Cherbourg or Granville; from 1994 his works are exported to Paris, Marseille, Rennes and Strasbourg. In total, more than twenty collections are exhibited throughout France, between galleries, boutiques, workshops and other contemporary art festivals.
His art also transcends borders and appears in Europe, for example, during his exhibition The Manosque March in Munich.
The painter will be rewarded several times with the 1st National Pébéo prize awarded in 1989, the 3rd International Jean-François MILLET prize in Paris in 1990, the Grand Prix of the General Council of the Manche in 1992 or the Grand Prix de Peinture Château -Arnoux / Alpes de Hautes-Provences in 1996.
Many collectors are now acquiring master paintings and various structures such as museums or art libraries.
