Remy Bond

Remy was born in 1983 in Paris, France. As a child, Rémy dreamed of becoming an astronaut: he dreamed of flying into the black void of space, of traveling to distant stars, of crossing the lunar soil and of contemplating the beauty of planet Earth in all tranquility. Remy's goal is to transport us to a place where time is simply suspended and where conventional modes of perception are disrupted. Remy's lunar work uses the codes of Pop Art. The images and common objects of our consumer society are reconfigured in the search for a poetic meaning. Rémy appropriates and radically transforms these symbols, propelling us into a dimension of experience beyond our daily routines. Remy's works transport us to a new lunar universe. At the heart of the project is a series of gigantic portraits of pop culture icons, celebrities, who appear dressed in NASA spacesuits, surrounded by cosmic, imaginary or monochromatic landscapes. Through these trips, Remy pays discreet homage to these giants of the public imagination, while questioning their status and their influence in our society.
