Born in the heart of Africa, Karine Chaudé grew up seeing toe colors and feeling the matter that makes this continent, influenced by an animal world on which Men still project themselves today.
Influenced by this heritage, Karine Chaudé wants to express the recurring archetipe of a half-man, half-animal character. For her, Men and Animal are not opposed, they are connected.
Her characters appeared to her after seeing works by Giacometti such as "Skeletal" or "L'homme qui marche". Another of his works, "La Cage", revealed to her the connection between sculpture and space.
Karine Chaudé's work is also informed by Calder who, associating transparencies and volumes an the lightness of his mobiles, shows her how sculpture can be freed from its base. This is the path that Karine Chaudé wants to follow through her creations.
