Philippe Tétu (Ugos)

Ugos' works come from a world which is dreamlike and realistic all together, between comics and B movies. Ugos is influenced by Pop Art and since 2002, identified himself more and more to the Street Art and participated to many performances. The way he prepares his canvas and his special technique characterize his style: he glues children's toys and then covers them with white paint.

He paints onto these volumes. The toys remain on the surface of the canvas as escaped from the world to which they belong, but are also absorbed by the black lines and the colors. His vision of our society swings between humor and seriousness. His works offer multiple levels of interpretation: our eyes wander through the meanders of the collages then make a step back in order to better see and read the represented urban landscape. The artists opens many doors where our imagination is invited to go through.
