Presentation

Delphine Lebourgeois, a graduate from Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Lyon, and from Central St Martins, has been working in London as an artist for more than ten years. She was the winner of the Images 29 Critics Award and also one of the 4 artists nominated by public vote for the Club Monaco Emerging Artist Award in November 2011.

Delphine Lebourgeois has been developing her practice producing a focused collection of original drawings and collage pieces alongside her popular limited edition Art Prints.

Delphine's extraordinary fine detailed lines and attention to her subject of the power of crowds. Delphine says of her work " Since 2010, I have drawn army-like groups of people, mainly groups of women, who first acted as a metaphor for self representation, illustrating the struggle of working and surviving as an artist.

However, with the series "The Girl has a Gun" (2014), the subject matter naturally expanded to the study of crowd's behaviour, whether it is guarding and protective or, on the contrary, menacing and harmful.

The drawings, created with a fine pen and later coloured with transparent inks, are detailed and layered as if to underline the complexity somehow chaotic of crowds' psychology. Bodies are replicated and organised in a geometrical way, but heads and expressions are unique, allowing ideas such as conformism and peer pressure, solidarity and belonging to be conveyed"

Delphine Lebourgeois's work has been regularly shown at the Affordable Art Fair, The London Print Fair, and at International Art fairs in Singapore, Hong Kong and New York.
