Marcelle Chamonard (1898-1997) studied at the School of Decorative Arts in Paris.
She has worked in the industry as designer fabrics in the textile plant in SENS. But in 1936, the factory closed. She took the opportunity to quit this work and taught fine arts at a technical college until she retired in 1956.
Marcelle Chamonard has always painted, and painted many large formats. She realized very engaged and avant-garde works. She had a strong character and was opposed to the conditions imposed by galleries. She needed to remain completely independent.
