Jean-Pierre Viot

Jean-Pierre Viot was born on April 30, 1936 in Rouen (Seine-Maritime). A graduate of the School of Fine Arts in Rouen, in 1957-1958 he completed an internship at the creation workshop of the Gien earthenware factory (Loiret). This allowed him to create and produce in sandstone and smoky earth fountains, sculptures, walls intended for buildings and the environment, as well as the creation of unique pieces. From 1963 to 1983, he worked in Ruffec-le-Château (Indre), then from 1983 to 1990 in Sucy-en-Brie (Val-de-Marne); since 1999, he has been living in Guermantes (Seine-et-Marne), in a house-workshop that he built himself, with the help of his wife, Haguiko. Founding member of the Contemporary Art Center of Châteauroux (the CRAC), he was the organizer, with the city of Châteauroux, and the general curator of the Contemporary Ceramic Biennial from 1979 to 2003. Applications: - creation and production in sandstone and smoky earths of fountains, sculptures, walls intended for the building and the environment. - creation of unique porcelain pieces.
