Stephany Hasselsweiller was born in 1978 in Lille. In 1998 she discovered her passion for painting and has been painting ever since. Self-taught, her art is a spontaneous one.
"That day, when I am went to that gallery by chance, at that very moment, I felt my body vibrate with strange feelings and impressions.
Dizzy from those bright and enigmatic images, I understood what the painter wanted to transpose himself in his painting, and at that moment, my existence reached a turning point, a need to create invaded me, a need to apply my feelings, my dreams, my nightmares, my imagination, my utopia on canvas?
The inspiration comes to me instantly, I see the characters, in the dark, imagining a story, a scene, a life ... This passion invaded me.
I love painting portraits and representing the character on the faces; the facial features reflect one?s deep self, we can perceive the emotions by the expression on a face; it is the same for the positions of the body, they betray us every day, all we have to do is observe a little bit around...
The body speaks, it expresses itself. My art aims that people recognize themselves in my painting, and when someone whispers in my ear: "I think I can see myself in your painting, it is like a mirror?? it is exactly this unsettling emotion that I want to make them feel."
