Born in 1951, Jean Lebreton is a French photographer. Today he lives and works in New York.
Despite his cinema studies, he decided to give up this world to combine his passion for photography to his interest in celebrities to create a more personal artwork. He photographed during 20 years, musicians and singers for their album covers, posters or ads.
He ended up leaving France for California where he stayed 3 years, as a journalist and photographer. He took pictures of original scenes of a life led outside of any conventional outline. Then he settled in Los Angeles, where he turned to fashion. In 1987 he left for Bora Bora, where he worked as a correspondent. When he came back to Paris, he was very much interested in advertising and merchandising.
It is in New York that he came back to photography, that he combined to painting in order to sublimate the every-day life scenes that he captures. He gets inspired by the city to realize pictures in between reality and dreams.
