La Fratrie

France Born in: 1978
Artist duo composed of two brothers, Karim and Luc Berchiche.

Born in Le Quesnoy in France, Karim (1978) gets a DEA of Political Science from the IEP in Paris, and Luc (1981) gets his Master of Fine Arts at the Lille 3 University.

The two brothers, Karim and Luc Berchiche, create fascinating sculptures of great precision evocative power; their works question man and his report with the environment. Suspended miniature islands, detailed constructions, the sculptures, made of mixed materials, are created by two artisans of a world that is utopian in the true sense of the word ("a place that doesn't exist").

These aerial rocks constitute as many worlds or illusions uprooted from their original space. Singular complex fictions, they the entry point into allegorical narrative scenes that are also veritable reflections on the ephemerity and the fragility of life.
