Christophe Gravis

Biography
Christophe Gravis is a French artist born in 1968. The work of Christophe Gravis is at the boundary between painting, sculpture and installation, and fits in the category of minimal art. Nourished by his researches on space and color, the artist creates pieces on wood, simple shapes that he polishes and on which he applies flat monochromatic coats of paint. These shapes overlap and fit together to find both balance and dynamic tension. He calls his creations "reliefs" and some of them are independent works while others are installations in situ. In his works the contrast and sensuality of the color are highlighted by the simplicity of the forms. Christophe Gravis has exhibited at the contemporary art fair MacParis in 2014 and 2015, and at the 69th Salon des Réalités Nouvelles in 2015.
