Presentation

Levon Vardanyan was born in the Armenian capital of Yerevan in 1973. He grew up in this rich country of 6,000 years of history, one of the cradles of Indo-European culture and Christianity, on the border between Europe and Europe. 'Asia. He has a childhood marked by life in a Soviet republic.

Classically trained, Levon becomes a mathematician, painting being experienced as a passion. It is just major at the time of the fall of communism and sees then settle down liberalism, democracy and their pitfalls.

After his studies, Levon became a professor of Mathematics and taught about fifteen years before deciding to immigrate to France, another land of culture. He landed in Marseille in 2005 and is now mainly devoted to painting. He participates quickly in several events and exhibitions. He moved to the Paris region in 2013. He then moved closer to the Armenian diaspora and took part in exhibitions in this way.

In 2017, he exhibits his work at the Grand Palais as part of the Art Capital exhibition.

The painting of Levon Vardanyan is crossed by multiple influences claimed by the artist, from mathematicians such as Lobachevsky, Minkowski to painters like Ervand Kotchar.

The work of Levon Vardanyan is in his image, mixing poetic sensibility and mathematical construction. The painter deploys his vision of the ordering of nature in what he calls the "construction of spaces of space". He intends to show and demonstrate in his painting that there are universal laws that organize the universe and allow the artist to create harmonious compositions.

Levon Vardanyan's painting is both sensitive and eminently cerebral. The interactions, the repetitions both chant and organize his paintings. The living, the organic mixes with the almost mechanical organization of the canvas. Human figures come to be intrigued to the elementary forms in a subtle game of overlays and transparencies.

The shape and color seem to work individually but are intimately linked, interact to shape coherent spaces, create a harmonious, soft and luminous unity.
