Didier Hagege

Faced with painting, there are always questions of the gesture and the origin of the rendering of this gesture that are posed to our gaze, our sensitivity, our enthusiasm to watch or discover. Didier Hagège's work is situated between collage, painting and engraving, using the three techniques in a subtle superposition, far from the fashions and the noisy effect of advertising chatter, where the work is reduced to a sociological marketing approach. Only the painted work presents itself to us and causes our dazzling, regardless of the subject or anything it suggests in our cognitive intellect in reference to an "idea?" or a “concept”. Then the question of the origin, that is to say of the reference or of the history, intervenes to evaluate the accuracy of our feeling of pleasure which could be deceived by the usurpation of the gesture of another by simple mimicry. Didier Hagège? Shows a clean gesture, not borrowed, but which dialogues with other artists who also cause this dazzling, namely Piero Pizzi Cannella, James Brown, Miquel Barceló, José María Sicilia, etc. It was from the years 1980 that Didier Hagège fed off his travels: Italy, Africa, Middle East, New York, Paris, Marseille, and successively set up his workshop there.
