Patrick Cottencin is a French painter and sculptor born in 1955.
He mostly makes sculptures and oil paintings, his small formats range from 20 cm2 to enormous paintings of 5m2 for museums and private collectors. His art is known for its refined textures and bright colors. Patrick Cottencin's art is a combination of impressionism and expressionism, violence and gentleness, compositions where the strength of colors are combined with movement, so that the interior landscape becomes visible.
Among his sculptures, the most famous are « Les Quatre Braves » in Normandy, inaugurated in 2000 or items boutght and present at the Elysée.
These last few years, the artist likes to go to places filled with history and has a passion for ancient abbeys.
The works of Patrick Cottencin were exhibited during the European Heritage Days at the Abbaye du Gué de Trizay in Vendée in 2014, the centre Art Contemprorain in Charente-Maritime in 2014, at Château de Terre Neuve de Fontenay le Comte in 2010, at art workshops in Saint-Maur in 2008, headquarters of Air France in 2008 or the Cultural center in Ormesson in 2008.
