Constructed like musical scores, Cabrol's canvases have the same characteristics: cadences with colorful harmonies. Remarkably balanced, often on the verge of rupture, they emit dynamics, hymns to the vital forces generating the energies underlying all life.
It is an immense fullness that emerges from these works, as if our gaze lingered on the balance of nature. But it is for sure because Cabrol's childhood in the Luberon was fed from its contradictory and yet peaceful perspectives: majestic landscapes and vast tortured canyons.
Undeniably, a spirit reigns over the compositions of the painter who makes us coded confidences, at the turn of such graphics or such chromatic eurythmy: passion for meditation, attachment to memory, exaltation of intelligence mysteries and, perhaps paradoxically, the need to order everything towards inaccessible perfection.
Drunkenness is to the body what painting is to the imagination, says Cabrol. This is certainly what one of his paintings is to our eyes.
