Presentation

Juliette Trani was born in Bastia and still lives in Corsica today, yet frequently travels to the Paca region to paint.

The artist studied Art in Paris, at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués et des Métiers d'Art, where she graduated in Interior Design.

Having worked in several design offices in Paris, she then began teaching at the Greta de Bastia. Since the 2000s, painting has become her primary activity.

Her works reflect the warm atmosphere of the Mediterranean and Provence. Her native Corsica is a great source of inspiration and she creates her paintings with the aim of inviting the spectator to travel there. Trani also likes to depict fishing and sailing boats, subjects that are dear to her, due to their prevalence around Marseille. She plays with oppositions, shadows and light or straight lines and curves, in her quest for balance. Bordering on abstraction, she erases details and plays with the representation of light, to achieve harmony in her pieces.

The artist uses warm colours, softened by a palette of greys to represent nature, mountains and the sea, all subjects which are at the heart of her work. She also works on form and its perception. Indeed, her canvases translate her interpretation of objects, which she represents with precision, in a style of her own. Her portrayal of nature, softened by the Mediterranean light, transports you to the coast.

She has exhibited in Corsica, Marseille and Aix en Provence.
