Pascal Maljette

Born in 1961 - France

Born in 1961 in Sens, Pascal Maljette is a French painter. He lives and works in China since 2004.

In 2004, the artist discovered China during a business trip. The country and its culture captivated him at such a point that he decided to settle there the same year. His relocation had a strong influence on his art, he now uses predominantly the color red in his pieces, a color that is symbolic of ancestral China and he highlights his graphic line, inspired by the art of calligraphy.
Creating this way a painting which is neither figurative nor abstract. Pascal Maljette creates sensible and emotionally charged paintings.

In his series called " Imaginary Landscapes" the artist raises the question of space and the horizon, of a blurry boundary between the sky and the ground. He also depicts the limits of man who is divided between freedom of movement and its physical limitations, since we can not survive without water or food. However, Pascal Maljette's approach remains always positive and reminds us that we are always searching to do better.

Pascal Maljette's pieces are particularly colored and light is an essential element in them. Nature is his source of inspiration but the artist's purpose is not to reproduce identically what he sees but to capture the environment and its essence.

His works are exhibited in China and France, the artist participates in several group exhibitions including the Strasbourg Contemporary Art Fair and Fotofever.
