Mathieu Weiler is a visual artist, who was born in 1976 in Grenoble. He currently lives and works in Paris.

He was three years old when he moved to Paris and then went to Brussels at the age of fourteen. He studied one year at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Brussels before joining the School of Fine Arts of Paris. It is in Jean-Michel Alberola's workshop, where he started creating his series on highways and cinema. He graduated with honors in 2001(Christian Bernard presided the jury).

In 2003, Mathieu Weiler became a resident at the "Villa Medici" in Rome. That was a year of researches about the connections between painting and cinema, he also worked in Ingres's studio for a while. He exhibited his researches in Balthus' studio in the French Academy in Rome. From 2004 to 2006 he worked at the International Center of Recollets, in Paris. In 2006 he obtained a residency at the center of art called "Synagogue Delmes" in Lorraine. In 2011 he worked at the Darling Foundry in Montreal. In 2015, it is at the Hyde Park Art Center in Chicago where he continued his researches.

He currently works at La Ruche in Paris, since 2008.
