Nawelle Aïnèche

In her artistic research, Nawelle Aïnèche questions the place of the body as a malleable object in our society as well as our relationship to reality through different mediums: performance, installation, weaving ... She works with materials of consumption such as tapes of video cassettes, and plays with the paradox between what we see, what we imagine and the Reality of what it is. After long costume studies, she left in 2015 to learn and experiment with plastic weaving in Dakar, Senegal, for four months thanks to the "Travel to learn arts and crafts" grant from the Culture and Diversity Foundation in partnership with UNESCO. In 2017, she received the "Creation in progress" grant, set up by the Ministry of Culture, managed by the Ateliers Médicis. During this residency, she places costume-sculpture at the center of her research and designs the performance "What will I do with you?" with a costume woven from magnetic tapes of VHS tapes. Resident at Taverne Gutenberg since June 2017, she participated in the exhibition "Les Nouveaux Sauvages" at the Halles du Faubourg in October 2018 with an immersive and monumental installation: La Boîte à Silence.
