Richard Dell'aiera

Sicilian artist Richard Dell'aiera, was born in the East of France in the late 80's. He became interested in art at a young age thanks to his father and went on to study at l'ecole supérieure d'art de Lorraine, and then at l'école nationale supérieure Louis Lumière. 

Dell'aiera is a multi-disciplinary artist who is no stranger to experimenting with different mediums. He says that he belongs to the TV generation, hence why film has heavily influenced his work. He is studying the impact of cinema on memory. Which memories stay? And why do we remember certain scenes more than others? These are just a couple of the many questions that Dell'aiera tries to answer.

Through photography, he is reinventing the lasting emotions we associate with films. He questions the past by recontextualising it in the present day. The works in his S-nights series invite the spectator into muted, nocturnal scenes. Meanwhile, in Levitas, he surprises the spectator with gravity defying houses.

Since 2017, Richard Dell'aiera has exhibited in China and Korea and has founded his own studio 'Souffle'.
