French artist born in Yerevan (Armenia - USSR) in 1950, David Apikian has lived and worked in Paris since 1984. He studied painting at the Fine Arts of Yerevan then traditional cartoon at Soyouzmoultfilm in Moscow and at Armenfilm. In 1973, he moved to Estonia to join the Tallinn Institute of Architecture. He graduated in Architecture and Furniture Design in 1982 under the supervision of Vaïno Tamm and Vello Asi. In France, he worked as an architect, then in special effects for cinema and television. He continues his artistic work (experimental films, painting, graphics) while teaching in Paris (INA and EAPM) and in Copenhagen (Danish School of Design). Since 2008, he has devoted himself entirely to artistic creation.
