Antoine Favre

Graduated from the Cohl School in 2015, Antoine Favre has made oil on canvas his preferred medium. He draws from this the opportunity to play with matter and work with light and color.

19th century painting is a major source of inspiration for Antoine. Impressionists, painters of the Russian landscape school, English romantics… are all models for the artist. However, it is nourished by the work of artists as numerous as they are varied. The nightmarish surrealist works of Zdzislaw Beksinski and the work of many contemporary figurative painters such as Benjamin Bjorklund, Jeremy Mann or Jeremy Lipking are among his influences.

In his latest series, Antoine strives to lay hidden industrial landscapes on his canvases. Oil platforms, nuclear power plants, refineries find themselves in worlds that are both dreamlike and apocalyptic.

The painter's goal in his representations of dystopian universes is not to convey an ideology but to arouse a feeling in the viewer.
