Jessie Vasseur

Jessie Vasseur is a professor of Plastic arts and a painter. She was lucky with the opportunity to open her workshop of art, The Brightly coloured, in which she gives courts of paint(painting), drawing and mixed techniques. It is in Beauchamp in Val-d'Oise.

The artist produces paintings in a serial way by trying to push always farther the techniques than her use. She uses particularly paint sprays, acrylic and oil paint.

She pays a particular attention on the harmony of colors, on the materials and on the movement. Her first series is very gestural. The acrylic is worked in puddle on funds realized in the bomb. The paint is stretched in the spalter or applied in a generous way to knives. The track of the gesture is visible and the effects of superimposing are essential.

Her artistic approach is a matter of the sensory. It is then frequent that a painting is inspired by a flavor, a taste, the perception of a movement, a literary quotation or another a music...

Mental images arise from these feelings which she tries to retranscribe in a plastic way. During his studies, Jessie Vasseur drafted a research thesis on the theme of the art and the artificial intelligence. The science fiction was then at the heart of its work and very widely influenced its plastic practice. In my work she(it) looks has to create spaces " science fictional ", inspired of images of the cosmos, the flows of energy, the organic forms, the unexplored imaginary worlds.

Some paintings bear an abstract calligraphy that everyone is free to own. It is also essential for her to visit exhibitions and meet artists in order to feed her practice.

Her artistic references are numerous, but for these two series, she quotes the abstract work of Jean Soyer, Fiona Rae and calligrapher Cyrille Simon who inspired her.
