Yves Girod

Yves Girod was born in Marseille in 1954 and currently lives in the Var in Bandol.

During his career as mathematic teacher in higher education, he is passionate about photography, painting and sculpture. He particularly appreciates the works of artists who have worked on color, painters (Picasso, Matisse, Derain, Sonia and Robert Delaunay, Chagall, Mondrian) or photographers (William Eggleston, Saul Leiter and especially Franco Fontana). We will find later in his work this attraction to the color.

From 2010 to 2015, he himself practices a "classic" photography that does not completely satisfy him, because too dependent on reality and not creative enough. The meeting at the end of 2016 in a Marseille gallery of a visual artist is a revelation. He then devotes himself to digital art and brings together his interests by creating paintings combining photography and painting.

For this, he extracts several elements from his own photos that he assembles to form the basis of his painting. Through games of overlays and chromatic articulations he creates a universe between real and virtual reality highlighted by a work on colors. Happy and optimist, they are applied using a digital brush. Sometimes characters are added only by a silhouette or shadow, allowing the viewer to invent his own story.

The prints of the paintings, made in direct impression on Aluminum Dibond, are in limited edition: maximum 12 copies, all formats taken together.
