Denys Eustace

Denys Eustace has exhibited for nearly twenty years, in Paris, in the provinces and abroad. He is a graduate of the grandes écoles, telecommunications engineer, lawyer and senior military. He is passionate about Greek, Roman and Taoist philosophers.

His need for creation and artistic expression was revealed in the early 2000s. His artistic training was self-taught. Convinced that an academic education would not correspond to his aspirations, he decides to acquire by himself the technical bases and the essential know-how: the material, the colors, the canvas, the tools.

He then begins a phase of assiduous practice of this elementary knowledge. He produced nearly 250 works in two years. But, more and more attracted by abstract painting, it is in the study of the writings of masters of painting that he pursues and deepens his training and his reflection. Kandinsky, Klee and Shitao in particular nourish his artistic culture, in addition to philosophical theories on art. For a year, he follows the art history courses of the Ecole du Louvre.

Painting visible reality does not interest him. Painting the invisible to reveal it constitutes the basis of his approach: the games of materials, the games of colors, the juxtapositions and the mergers, are likely to encourage travel, reverie, reflection of those who look at a work and who knows how to get carried away in another universe.

He does not name his works, only a chronological reference allows them to be identified. Likewise, he signs his works on the back of the canvas so as not to give them any “meaning” and leave complete freedom of interpretation. The truth does not belong to the artist, everyone must make the effort to find “his” truth and his way. The work of art can help.
