Presentation

Born in 1934 and died in 1981, Alain Le Foll was a French illustrator and designer.

In the 60's, Alain Le Foll was one of the key figures of the illustration world. He collaborated with many journals like Elle and Marie-Claire, demonstrating his several talents as the artist was able to pass from Indian miniatures to a somewhat brutal expressionism. The French capital was covered with his cinema posters, well known stores ordered Orientalist style flowers. He also made book covers, such as C'est le bouquet by Claude Roy and Sindbad le Marin by Bernard Noel and collaborated with Delpire agency. The work he did for Insidon de Ciba-Geigy, made a big impression on the world of poster advertising.

During his collaborations and projects, he also did some personal work by using ink and quill, bright colors and handmade paper. He printed his lithographs at Wolfensberger in Zurich.

Unfortunately, his personal life seriously tarnished his art as after his divorce, he moved away from his two daughters and wound up alone in his tiny apartment in Paris, where he continued to create pieces despite everything. After his death, an unfortunate dispute between the heirs has delayed the recognition of his work, but is now gradually being rediscovered.
