Naomi T.

Born in 1976, Naomi T., of a Greek father and a French mother, is originally from Avesnois, the "little Switzerland of the North". After her studies and her first contracts in professional life, she decided to go to Greece, to work in tourism for several seasons. It was from there that she discovered archaeological museums (Athens, Knossos, etc.) and began to take an interest in the history of art. Back, in her region of origin, 4 years ago and following an emotional shock, she decides to release her ailments through painting which she begins in a self-taught way. Then, she will take lessons at the plastic arts workshop in Feignies. She discovered different techniques including painting, sculpture, engraving, calligraphy, glass. She meets local artists and takes part in several internships including one with the glass masters Perrin & Perrin. It enriched itself and visited museums and exhibitions, such as those in Rotterdam, The Hague, the Matisse museum, the Kijno exhibition in St Germain en Laye, Modigliani at the Lam, Niki de Saint Phalle at the Grand Palais, the Mus'verre etc. She is more and more interested in portraits, in order to convey her emotions through the looks she paints. These portraits of women are a reflection of her sensitivity, she calls them "portraits written in acrylic / oil on canvas". "The faces painted by Naomi T. are presented to us frontally, they invade the space of the canvas, and our being totally. The eyes catch us, disturb us, fix us or avoid us while their intensity varies from one image to another .... / ... but gradually the lines and colors light up, cleanse themselves, to extract themselves from the gangue, to open up to space and to be reborn. Archetype of awakening , of the therapeutic path and of a resilience. Naomi T., sends us back without artifice to our own bruises. From her technique, Naomi T. likes to put material on the bottom of the canvas, she sometimes works with a knife and only one, and / or recently with brushes. She chooses rather warm colors and places them spontaneously on the canvas.
