Francis Guerrier

Born in: 1964

Born in 1964 in the South of France, Francis Guerrier grew up in a family of artists. He was only ten years old when he had participated in 2 cinema-poetry projects, along with Helene Martin. He experimented with all kinds of artistic expressions, and turned towards André Dupertuis who introduced him to screen printing. After he got settled in Paris where he took lessons at Cours Florent, he became part of stage plays in the 80's, then worked as a decorator assistant for theater and dance. A true entrepreneur, he created his own creation and set design company called Maginem which allowed him to do his own artistic research work and constantly train himself. In the 2000's, he developed his sculptures, in which his light work and memory symbolism are highlighted. Eventually he chose metal as his favorite material. In 2005, he began creating enormous sculptures. Recently he began a new series called "Plumes d'Ange", aluminum sculptures of five to fifteen meters in height. They are mounted on a spring and mobile in the wind. "According to me, planting feathers or a seed is an act of resistance, immoderation, writing a story, it's the beauty of daydreaming. Looking to find the essential, it's link with the other, its harmony with mother nature".
