Presentation

Claude Lorrain alias Claude Dumont. Born in 1938 in Metz Claude Dumont moved to the capital at the age of 18 to take fashion drawing lessons where he acquired a remarkable finesse of the line. He chose to return, 3 years later, to the School of Applied Arts where he learned, among other things, engraving, decoration and sculpture. At the same time, he decided to set up his easel at Place du Tertre in Montmartre, where his success was immediate (this is where he is called Claude Lorrain). He was drawn to figurative graphic painting and his admiration naturally went to Le Greco, Daumier, Jamsen and Turner. Claude Dumont, who also excels in landscapes and genre scenes, is a painter known throughout the world for his clowns, a theme he exhibits regularly in Paris, Germany, the USA and Japan. The graphics, the gestures, the movement, the colors, everything is there.
